I have a desktop and a laptop connected together on my mshome network using
a linksys router. Both machines can access the internet. I can see both
machines in Network Neighbor. The desktop can access the drives of the
laptop but the laptop can't access the drives of the desktop. When I ping
the laptop from the desktop, no problem. When I ping the desktop from the
laptop, it times out. I can ping the desktop from the desktop, 127.0.0.1.
I can see the desktop in Network Neighborhood. I am using McAfee firewall
not the Windows xp firewall. What else would stop me from pinging the
desktop? When I double click on the desktop in My Network Places, I get the
following error message, "\\BGDesktop is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. and then the network path was
not found.

Check your router to see if PING is disabled by default.....
