I cannot open Word to a blank document. A previous document reapp.

I click on the Word icon on my desktop and when it opens a previous document
reappears. How do I get rid of that document and get back to my blank
document like usual?

When I click START and the window opens I see the Microsoft Word "W" in the
box. However, when I click on it nothing happens. The only way to get to a
previous Word document seems to be through Launcher. Once there I have to
open an old file and then open a new file from there. HELP!

Either repair office and check the box to replace the shortcuts or locate
winword.exe with Windows Explorer, right click and drag it to the desktop
and choose the option to create a shortcut.
