Hi: Recently I cannot connect to the internet via dial-up connection. It
might be caused by some kinds of virus or spyware but I cannot detect it. I
use Spybot and AdAdare ofter and the comptuer seems free of attacks. Please
help me with any suggestions. Thank you very much in advance.

I'll try to help you as best I can, but I'll need more
information.

What happens when you try to dial out?

It could be something simple like the phone line from the
wall is unplugged slightly or your dog/cat found a new
play toy. Check the connections from the wall to the
modem.

Does your modem show up in the Device Manager? Right
click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware Tab>Device
Manager. Click on the plus where it shows Modems. Right
click on it and go to properties. Does it say 'This
device is working properly?'

Are you using the right password? Is caps lock on?

If that doesn't help, email me and I'll try to help more.

Thank you very much for your help. I checked the phone line several times and
there is no problem with it. I will go and check the modem after I get home.
To me, I still think it is the virus or spyware because it happend before. Is
there a way to solve the problem without re-installing the OP?
