Internet Connection Problem

I believe the computer is Dell and it has been working on the internet for
quite some time. Recently though the internet stopped working and even after
several restarts it still does not work. When I go to the CMD I type in
ipconfig/renew and it comes up with something saying that there is an
internal error and that the host cannot be reached. I phoned Telus because I
thought it was just the internet that was down but they told me it was up and
we went through a process of uninstalling the network hardware and then
reinstalling. The computer can detect the Lan when it first boots up but when
you remove the internet cord and plug it back in the Lan cannot be detected
anymore. The tech support told me to phone microsoft to ask about installing
certain things to allow the computer to detect the internet connection. I do
not want to phone microsoft because my uncle does not have the programs and
CD's.

I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and whether or not they
know how to fix it. Also, where can I get the programs that need to be
installed such as system discs. Thanks for the help.

You receive an error message in Internet Explorer 7: "Internet Explorer
cannot display the webpage"

How to troubleshoot network connectivity problems in Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936211

Run command type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Reboot your machine and see if you can access any website/link easily and
without the cannot connect error message.
Or try this winsock from here:

Reboot your machine and see if you are able to access the internet.

Did not work I'm still getting the internal error probelm would you by any
chance know where the software or hardware is for installing internet drivers
or such things like that? No matter what I do w/ ipconfig it gives me
internal error because my computer is not detecting the network cable.
