I can play/rewind etc but not view

Hi
I am use a Dell Dimension 8400 P4 3.2 160GB ATI 128mb X300 Graphics Card pc
and a Canon MV550I camcorder which is connected by a IEEE 1394 card. There
are no errors in device manager on the card or camcorder - when I turn the
camcorder on XP recognises it and asks me which program to open it with -
Movie Maker opens and I go through the Capture part to where you get to see
the display footage and where you can play rewind record etc - this is the
problem - i can not actually see the recording although the maker is
increasing and I can view the tape perfectly well through the viewfinder of
the camcorder. I have checked the settings so that it plays on both the
camcorder and PC , all SP2 updates have been done as have the graphics card
updates.
Any ideas
Many Thanks

Hi Graham
No not on the PC - the software will interact with the camera as you can
hear the camera playing(see footage in viewfinder) you can rewind etc - if
you press capture the counter does not go up yet if you just press play it
will continue till the end of the tape

Tried the SP2 fix and still the same - I have contacted Canon and am waiting
for a response! Footage was recorded in ELP mode - not sure if it could
something as sill as that or not

Unfortunately that is the case!! Is there any other way I can get this
footage of my DV tapes and onto my PC? They were recorded this way because I
was using my camcorder with a bullet camera for onboard motorcycle footage
and needed more time recording! I have 3 tapes videod this way when i went
over to the Isle of Man boo hoo
cheers
