I can not open files save in Excel

Now using Win98, I am
now unable to open any Office files previously saved in Excel (office 2003)
Every time I attempted to open an Excel Office file
a message "file can not be accessed, may be read-only file" , Is there any
conflict saving a file in office 2003, now that i am using an earlier version
of office? I cannot open them on my
PC even though I can send them to another computer and they load perfectly.

I can't seem to find a way to solve this problem. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.--Rowena

Sorry this is the MS Access (the database program) newsgroup. Try a
newsgroup devoted to the program you are using. You should find people
better able to address your problem there than here.

Hint. The file formats of many programs including Excel change from
time to time and you now have a program that does not understand the new
format. New formats are required to support new features. You will likely
need to purchase a new version of Excel or have someone with a newer version
of Excel save the file as an older version (possibly loosing some features
and or data.)
