at the school i work at i setup 1 2k machine, all updated
etc and cloned it 50 other times with dick image 7.0. now
none of the floppy drives work. when i click one,
sometimes drive image 7.0 starts launching until the user
gets a messsage telling them they dont have sufficient
permission to use the app. other times it says theres no
floppy in the drive. etc etc...things dont print right.
macafee errors.... the original worked perfectly, i sure
dont understand this.

Hi!

Did you run sysprep on the computer before cloning the HD?
The problems just sounds like those; an application
pointing in the registery to the original computer
(sometimes available on the LAN)!

Hi!

I got impression from your first posting that you use DICK
IMAGE :))
I always use the original ;)

A good place to start is reading MS W2K Deployment Guide
and ofcourse your third part software users guide.

I agree. I always run sysprep on the original machine
before I create a disk image. Sysprep can also be used to
modify and automate the Windows setup and "if your cleaver
enough" you can actually write the sysprep script to
insure that your disk image will work on multiple
desktops / laptops and across many types of hardware.

As for your problem, I totally agree with the above
comment and sysprep would clear all SID info on the
machine (Ghostwalker and others are also good at this)
