Mike

I have a literary project that utilizes a three-column
page with headers and footers. The columns are completely
encased within solid lines top, bottom, sides, and in
between. I need to change the header above the columns
that streatches across all three columns, at certain key
places, but cannot figure out how to insert a page break
without disrupting the whole document's layout, and it
always inserts the page break I try to insert, into the
page before the first header page. I am so-o lost and
frustrated! I have tried everything. Can you help? I would
be pleased to speak on the phone with someone if it is
necessary.
Thank you for listening, and God bless!
Mike

Not exactly sure what you want, but can't you 'merge cells' in one row?
Sorry if it's not what you're looking for.

Can yu make it simpler?
Don't do something so un-usual.
Don't hurt yourself......

Start up word and it's help system. Then search for "Change the headers or
footers for part of a document". Note that a header applies to all pages in
a section - so if you want one page in the middle to have a different header
you need to divide your document into three sections.

Here is what the help system says...

Change the headers or footers for part of a document

A document must first be divided into sections in order to create a
different header or footer for part of a document.
If you haven't done so already, insert a section break where you want to
start a new section that contains a different header or footer.
How?
Click where you want to insert a section break.
On the Insert menu, click Break.
Under Section break types, click the option that describes where you want
the new section to begin.
Click in the section for which you want to create a different header or
footer.
On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Same as Previous to break the
connection between the header and footer in the current section and the
previous section.
Microsoft Word no longer displays "Same as Previous" in the upper-right
corner of the header or footer.
Change the existing header or footer, or create a new one for this section.
