I had a pesonal folders data file (personal.pst) on our server that was
mistakenly deleted and restored from backup. When I try to open it I get the
message:

"The file H:\e-mail\personal.pst is not a personal folders file."

What can I do?

Can you copy it to a local hard drive and run scanpst.exe against it?

Greetings,
I have a similar problem. I have been working on a laptop which the hard
drive had been written over with a OS image file. I was able to retrieve to
..pst files from the previous system XP Pro with Office2K3, these PSTs were
480MB and 760MB respectively but I have been unable to access the information
in them. the error says "(filename).pst is not a personal folders file." I
have ran scanpst.exe against them and have ended up with empty recovered
personal folders.
Any help recovering this data would be greatly appreciated.
