Folder Mapping using IMAP

This forum is very cool. I love Outlook, and I am loving IMAP from my very limited time using it. I have a question regarding gmail's IMAP and Outlook 2007. The IMAP server and Outlook work fine together for me. However, I was wondering if I could have the Outlook Inbox under the initial Personal Folders be my IMAP inbox. As well for drafts, junk email, drafts, deleted items. The Personal Folders file is a .pst and if I set up IMAP in Outlook the file is also a .pst. So I guess my question is, can I have the IMAP.pst folder map itself to the Personal.pst folders? That question may not make any sense, so please tell me to clarify. Again looking forward to any suggestions or wisdom saying that it cannot be done.

No you can't. The way IMAP works is that it mirrors the folders on the
server. You can set up a rule to move emails from one pst to another.

Thank you for your response. I was thinking that was the case. But I thought it might be possible, because Windows Live Mail allowed you to do so. I know that the two are different, but can you tell me what the differences are, or why WLM allows mapping of folders, and Outlook does not? Again, thank you for your response.

Windows Live Mail is basically a kind of Outlook Express - a half-way
house between OE and Windows Mail in Vista....

Thanks Gordon. Could I trouble you to edit your previous post and remove my email address from it? That would be fantastic. Thank you as well for your explanation.

Then don't post using your real address.

I am sorry. I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining. I just thought that if I chose to hide my email address under my profile, that it couldn't be posted.

I am not certain how to take your comment Brian.

But I made the assumption that if you wanted to post on the forum you should give legitimate information. Does your comment suggest otherwise? Or what should I do to prevent this in the future?

Or maybe I have it wrong. I thought there were some sort of web crawlers that looked for email addresses to send mail to. I don't know, maybe I am just being too cautious.

Clearly you're the one who included a real address when you decided to
access the newsgroups using FUDforum V2.7.5RC2. Change your account
definition in that tool to mung the address or to specify a completely bogus
address. The newsreader won't care.

Clearly I understand that I put my email address on this forum. Again, I am simply asking how I can remove it. Thanks for your help with this, as well as for the site. I am not certain what the FUDforum is.
