I am try to Schedule Recuring meetings for a resource in outlook 2

G

Guest

I select the resource and the attendees. I schedule it to recur 5 times. I
pick the day and the time for the first meeting and then save it. I get the
responses back from the attendees, but it does not show me a conflict in the
scheduled time for some of the following recurring meetings. If i notice
that it conflicts on a future date I attempt to move the time, but it won't
let me.

If you had posted a clearer message, someone probably would have helped.

Unfortunately, for those of us who do answer questions, ones such as you
posted are so indecipherable that we just move one to ones that are clear,
include the version of Outlook, and a more precise statement of what they
were doing when the problem occurred.

Maybe you should have taken a moment and asked me the questions you just
asked. I like to be treated like a professional and I assume you would like
the same courtesy.

Outlook 2002 Sp3

They created a re-occuring meeting that allowed them to schedule a resource
that was already marked as Busy. It did not tell us that there was a
conflict.

Or, conversely, you should have taken the time initially to reread your post
and ask yourself, "is this enough information, clearly stated, that will
allow someone to assist with this problem without me having to add to it in
additional posts?"

Now, having said that (and I hope putting this behind us), did the organizer
open the meeting once it was created and select "Open Series?" What did it
show? How have you set up Resource booking? DId you use one of the methods
on this page? http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/skedresource.htm If yes,
which one are you using?

No he did not open the series. The resource booking was set up using the
Outlook 2000 and later (Direct Booking) steps. I tried to duplicate the
steps he took to schedule the meeting, which included.

1. picking the time of the meeting using my calendar
2. selecting the Scheduling Tab
3. selected the add others drop down list
4. selected add from address book
5. selected attendees and added them to the required list
6. selected the conference room and added as a Resource.
7. selected OK.
8. it populated the Free\busy time on the calendar view.
9. i selected a time period that i knew would have a conflict.
10. It told me that the conference room was already booked for that time and
i would have to pick another time or resource. (this is what i expected).

So i duplicated it again and made sure that i did not pick a time that was
busy on the first time of the Recurrance, but I knew it would conflict with
another time on the next occurance.

It once again told me that i could not have the resource on one or more
recurrances. choose another time or resource.

I tried it again and this time i just picked randomly and it again told me
the same thing. Just as expected.

This is the problem. The user that uses the same steps I outlined above,
does NOT get the report telling him to pick another time or resource. We are
both using Outlook 2002 Sp3 and exchange 2000 Sp4.

i hope this is enough info for you. if you need more info please ask and i
will send whatever you may need.
