I am looking for a FAX Services

S

Srinivas

Hi,
I am looking for a FAX Server and first preference is a Microsoft Product.
I learnt from the Microsoft site the SMB 2003 has a Fax Server, how well
does it integrate with the MS Exch 2003 because I want individual users to
send faxes from their mail boxes as well as receive Faxes to their mail
boxes.

Is this with in the scope of the Microsoft products.
Does Exch 2003 comes with any default Fax support.

Can someone also enlighten me how is the Fax Service in Win2003 Server
different to the Fax Server Service in SBS 2003.

Thanks in Advance....
Srini

If you're talking about internet based faxing solutions (where you have no
fax hardware at all), Microsoft's solution is incorporated with Office and
is unrelated to the Windows Fax Services.

The Fax Services that come with Windows is not integrated with exchange
2003. Info about SBS 2003 faxing is available at
http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/sbs20032.mspx.

Using Win2003 server or SBS 2003 fax, you can configure fax in Outlook. This
way users can send faxes. For the receiving side, you'd still need to
manually forward the faxes. This is obvious in a way because you have just
one phone number that is shared by multiple people. When a fax is received,
someone has to take a look at received fax to see whom it was meant to. On
the other hand however, there is a support to send all received faxes to an
email address.

For info about how to configure fax in outlook, please refer to
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/SERVICES/winxpfax.htm (the information here
pretty much applies to Win2003 or SBS2003 fax services)
