HyperTerminal: Wherefore art, thou?

I realize that this is most likely a futile request at this stage in the
development cycle but I'd be remiss if I did not request that a terminal
program (e.g. HyperTerminal) be included in a forthcoming Vista release. As
a network engineer, I frequently need to connect to various devices via
console cable and was disappointed to find that HyperTerminal was not
included in Vista.

It was extremely useful having terminal software bundled with the OS. On
more than one occasion, I've had to troubleshoot a high priority network
issue where HyperTerminal was the only tool I had at my disposal. In those
situations, the ubiquitous HyperTerminal was invaluable. When I think about
what I would have done in those situations had I not had terminal software
available, my blood pressure starts rising and my palms start sweating! Not
good!

I could not agree more-- Especially when I discovered hyperterminal did not
exist at a point when I had a Cisco Router failing and needed to console into
the router.

I bet there will be a up-roar (and a LOT of roll-backs) from those who
regularly work on Cisco products if the final version of Vista does not have
Hyperterminal... It does not do much good to say download something, when
your router is down and you are needing to get into it.

Now that people know it doesn't come with Vista, they should download it
while the system is working.
