Hyperlinks on IE 6

I am aware that this problem has been dealt with before, but none of the
suggested solutions - except uninstalling everything and starting from
scratch - has worked for me.
On some web sites when I try to access through a hyperlink nothing happens.
If I try with right mouse button and open in new window, a "Cannot display
page" message follows. On the bottom bar I can see a javascript: instruction.
I am not certain but it seems the problem started when I installed IE 7 or
Firefox and then uninstalled them.

Thanks,

You might want to post to the internet explorer newsgroup.

Newsreader:

On the Web:

if using IE7, try turning off the PHISHING filter.
what happens if you hit F5 to refresh the page. sometimes works.

Hi Carlos

This article may help:

You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after
you click a link:

Let us know how you get on :-)

Sorry I missed it the first time.
I did follow all your instructions and worked on the firs time around; when
I colsed the called window and tried again, it failed. Accessed a second web
site and also failed.

Hi Carlos

Did you see my earlier post pointing you to this article:

You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after
you click a link:

If nass's urlmon fix helped, it seems this is the right track. This
article gives that and other fixes. You do need to reboot after making
any changes so the new settings take effect.

Good luck -- let us know how you get on :-)

l your tips so far, including nass'' spyware, but nothing works. Guess I will
have to uninstall IE and start all over again. Problem is this will take some
time because my version has been updated several times. Will have to wait for
a slow weekend.

Thanks to all.
