Hyperlinking T of C pages to document pages

When you create a TOC be using Insert ---> Reference --> Tables and Indexes
you have the option to create hyperlinks. It's on the TOC dialogue box.

What version of Word are you using?

You actually can't turn it off entirely. Even if you disable hyperlinking of
the entries themselves, the page numbers are still hyperlinked.
 
What in the world are you talking about? When you insert a TOC through
Insert | Reference | Index and Tables | Table of Contents, every entry is
hyperlinked to its respective heading. The entries are not formatted as
hyperlinked (blue and underlined) unless you are in Web Layout view.
