Hyperlink won't save correctly in Word 2002

I am trying to insert a hyperlink to a file on our
network server. After opening tools to insert hyperlink,
I type the address
(\\share_name\folder_name\documentname.doc), press OK and
I see the text as an underlined hyperlink. I can hover
over the link and the screen tip shows the location of
the file. After Saving the document, the location
changes to ../folder_name/documentname.doc. Clicking on
the link brings up an invalid address error.

How do you create a hyperlink to a file stored on a
network server?

Hi Pam,

Tools/Options/General/Web options/Files.

Deativate the checkbox that has to do with updating links on
save.
