Hyperlink update when doucments change

I have several pages of an orientation manual that I keep in a file.

The specific pages of the manual, which contain checklists and objectives,
live in our departments N drive which is a separate file location.

I have hyperlinked the pages of the manual, each one to their permanent
location.

However, frequently the checklists are updated. Is there a setting that
will allow the hyperlinks to be automatically updated when one of the
documents is revised?

Maybe. As long as you're not using anything earlier than 2000. Take a look in
Tools/Options/General/Web options under Files. There's a checkbox about
updating links on save. In versions 2002 and later this has a nasty tendency
to change linked pictures and text, not just hyperlinks, so it may be off
(for a good reason).
