hyperlink question

I have not seen this addressed here yet. About two days
ago, for no apparent reason, when I click on a link and
then go back from the new page, the link no longer
appears in a different color to let me know I've visited
that link. I've tried clearing the cache and have run
extensive adware/spyware/etc programs, but my PC is not
infected. A guy at work thinks it's somewhere in
preferences, but I can't find anything even remotely
close.

Has this happened to anyone else and how did you fix it?

Jim,
Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[XP\2K]
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder(s).

"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

Note: McAfee AV with ActiveX controls enabled is known to cause History
problems.
