Hyperliinks point to "C" drive! How do I fix this?

When I publish my web authored in FP 2000, the hyperlinks on the net point
to pages on my "C" drive rather than to the web. How (please make it simple
step by step, I'm not too smart) do I get them to point to the web? I've
had several people tell me that is the problem, but no details on how to fix
it. Take a look at www.triplenetinvestments.com and you'll see what I mean.

1) Do you have a web open on your client (rather than just a page) when you
are working on the web? File | Open Web

2) Have you imported your images into your open web in your FP client before
inserting on a page and saving?

Make sure that you are always open web first (File Menu | Open Web) and that
all content is either created in or imported into the current open web prior
to using it.

You need to import those .jpgs into your web directory. Then edit the link
to point to the web directory instead of your C drive.
 
You didn't answer #2, however. And that is your problem.

Your images are pointing to your hard drive on your local computer.

File | Import your images into your web before inserting on a page and
saving.

Tom,

Are you talking about photos, .jpgs, .gifs, etc? I'm talking about links to
web pages that were created within the web.
 
WOW! Everything is pointing to your hard drive. Import EVERYTHING to your
server then go back in and redirect your links.

Did you see the folder was My Webs? ...
file:///C:/My%20Documents/My%20Webs/TNILLC/testimonials.htm ... rather than
wwwroot or his web name. Looks like he thinks the my web folder is a fp web
folder (?!)

When using Front Page to create a website, your first
step should be to create a "Front Page Web". This is a
special folder on your hard drive in which all of your
web pages and content are contained. These Front Page
Webs are stored, by default, under the "My Webs" folder
on your computer.

You create a Front Page Web from within the Front Page
program by File | New | Page or Web | Empty web. The
Empty Web can be a template web site based on templates
that came with your copy of Front Page.

Why do I need a Front Page Web you ask? This web (called
a disk based copy of your web in Front Page terms) will
contain all of the stuff that makes up your website. This
stuff may be on other portions of your computer's hard
drive but for it to make it to your on line site it must
be imported into the Front Page disk based web. For
instance, if you want to use a graphic on your site, you
would Insert | Picture | From a File to import this file
into your Front Page web. Front Page will ask you if you
want to store it within the Front Page Web. The original
copy of the file will still be contained in its original
location on your hard drive. The import simply brings a
copy into the Front Page Web.

There are other things that Front Page manages for you
with this Front Page web. For instance, if you decide to
rename a web page, Front Page will search through the
Front Page web and make all the necessary changes in your
hyperlinks for you.

As you add pages (and other content) to your web site
(File | New Page or Web | New page), you must have the
Front Page web open.

I hope this helps but I would really suggest that you
head to your favorite bookstore and pick up a copy of a
book that covers your version of Front Page. Several
folks who contirbute to this site, Jim Buyens and Jim
Cheshire, have authored excellent books on Front Page.
 
yah they do...i bet that's also why the site takes an eternity to open too.

interested in a 'my webs' folder ... it always created and used webs under
inetpub\wwwroot\.

It would only create them there if you were using PWS or IIS and the FP SE (and localhost)

Ah ... so since he's using FP2000 and having this problem he must be running
on a 98 or ME box then, as on 95 and 98 w/PWS (before the era of 'my webs')
FP used wwwroot (at least on the several machines I used).

My comment was related to your comment on inetpub\wwwroot\ (not the users problem)
