Hub with XP and OSX needs internet access

I have a cable modem connected via ethernet to a network
hub, and a mac with OSX and a pc with XP connected to the
hub via ethernet as well. At the moment, the pc has
internet access but is not really connected to the OSX,
which doesn't have internet access.

How can I get the pc and the mac networked with each
other and both connected to the internet?

I'm using a network hub with an uplink port for the
internet sharing by the way.

Thanks,

Brian

The best solution for you is to replace the HUB with a router. Your ISP
likely only gives out i IPaddress so only one computer on your HUB will
ever have Internet access with your configuration. Alternatively you could
connect one of your computers to the Internet and then using ICS on that
computer share the connection with the other.

If you have a ROUTER, both ought to see the internet.

If it is really a HUB, your ISP will need to issue you an
additional IP Address, and this may require client
install on your mac.

USE A ROUTER...easier

OSX and XP Pro ought to be able to see each other on at
least a limited basis right out of the box. ON OSX enable
file sharing and web sharing. On XP make some shares.

W2K has file and printing services for mac as installable
components. I'm not sure off the top of my head if XP Pro
has these available, but I suggest looking.

Apple has good help files for this too.

But, first get internet working on both through a router
and then file & print sharing will be easier to configure
once the first part works.
