"http://" prefix in address bar

Cal

Just started having this problem today. When typing an
address into the address bar, if I do not use
the "http://" prefix before the address it now takes
almost five minutes to load the page where as before it
loaded immediately. If I do type in the "http://" prefix
the page will load normally. My registry settings are as
follows:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVers
ion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVers
ion\URL\Prefixes]

"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Unzip the tool [ http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip ]
Hit the executable, ensure that all instances of IE and OE are closed, follow
the prompts.

Tried using the shredder program you suggested but it did
not fix the problem. I have also noticed now that when I
click on My Computer icon my system immediately slows
down to a crawl. I'm not sure what to try next.

Use "Hijack This", as follows -

Go to:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location: Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support.
http://forums.spywareinfo.com

Sign in,or post as a guest, then copy and paste both files in your message.
