Mike

I just rebuilt my laptop and installed FP2003. Upon
creating a new web, this message is in the "Specify the
location of the new website"

http://<--nohost-->/mysite

I enter http://localhost/webname and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Don't select create a new web, select to open http://localhost in the File Menu | Open Site, then
once the site is open, then create a folder, right click and select convert to web / site.

Tom,

Windows XP Pro/SP2 and FP extensions 2002, with IIS 5.1
and FP2003.

I have never had to do that since using FP97. A little
investigation reveals that unde Computer Management, IIS
reports an red error sign on Default Website.

I downloaded Dreamwever trial and can create and view a
web from localhost.

You can not create a web site on the server with FP. A root web must be create with IIS and under
Windows XP Pro / IIS, you can on have a single root web, http://localhost, but you can then have a
many subwebs as you have space under the root web. When you as FP to create a web, would then create
a subweb under the root web, but if the default web is not running, then you have no root web.

The default web must be running, as it is the root web for localhost and the extensions.

Tom,

It appears to be an IIS problem. I can't start the WWW
service. I receive the following error:

Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or ir
marked for deletion.

IISadmin is not a listed service, and the 2 dependency
services (RPC and security accounts manager) exist and
are running.

Help! I have already removed and installed 2x.

You are running Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 Pro correct and you install IIS from the add/remove
Windows components with the default install with the FP2000 extensions, correct?

Tom,

XP Pro w/SP2 and yes to the rest of your message except I
do not install the FP2000 exentions. I download the
latest (fp2002) from MS website and install.

This has always worked in the past.

Ok, most likely this issue is caused by install SP2. Did you install SP2 prior to installing IIS or
after?

Tom,

I believe it was after sp2 installation.

Ok, if you installed IIS after SP2, you need to re-install SP2.
