HTML File Icon Not Displaying

G

Guest

I have a brand new Dell 9150 - XP Home, Service Pack 2 - and I cannot get the
icons to display for .htm or .html file types. All other file types are
displaying their correct icons. I have tried & retried to change it using the
Folder Options/File Type app in the Control Panel. I downloaded & ran the
TweakUI - no changes. It is *really* bugging me when I open up folders with
lots of HTML files and instead of the "e' icons, it just shows the "broken"
icon. I do web-dev, but I am not too educated on the systems side of the
computer. Any help or suggestions? Thanks!!!

Open Start, Run, type without quotation marks 'regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll' and click OK. See if HTML files have recovered their right icon.

What did Dell say when you asked them about the problem with your brand

Oh, don't get me started. I tried to call them and was on hold for about a
half-hour and just hung up. I orded the "Aloha-Bob" program & USB wire to
transfer everything from my old Dell to my new Dell. It worked great except
for my email programs - I could not get email on either computer after the
transfer - and I had to do system restores on both and do it all by USB
Flash. I ended up doing about 5-6 system restores onmy new computer b/c
things just kept happening. It was a nightmare. I am pretty PC literate, but
am not a system person, so for anyone else (like everyone answering on this
board) it prob would have been a piece of cake. I was very close to just
chucking the new one out the window. It realy should not be so damn hard.

If nothing works from the suggestions/help I am getting I guess I will
suffer the wait & call Dell.
