HP t45 all in one Printer, Fax, Copy and winxp problem

My daughter has the HP T45 all in one Printer and even after we downloaded
the latest driver from the HP site it does not work for Print . Installation
of driver went smoothly after we first un-installed the previous driver, in
fact, deleted the HP all in one Printer. Then re-installed with the XP
driver from the HP site. It puts the HP all in one printer in the Control
panel and the Fax portion works fine. The copy portion is VERY, VERY slow
and the print does not work at all.

Connections are firm, got new Belkin bi-directional cable. Still no go.

It worked fine under Windows 98SE.

Anybody has a fix for this?

If connected to a printer port (ie not USB) then try changing your
LPT1 port settings in the Device Manager to
"Use any interrupt assigned to the port" and
"Enable legacy Plug & Play Detection".

Thanks for trying. I called my daughter in Hagerstown, MD. and we checked.
All is like you suggested.

There is a SW package on the HP HW site for T45 and it checks your computer.
It too says all is fine.

YET - it does NOT print or even make an attempt at it with WINXP now.

Did you check that ECP (Extended Capabilities Port) Mode is enabled
as recommended by HP?

Click Start and then click My Computer.
Under Tasks, click View System Information to display the System
Properties page.
Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Double-click on Ports (COM & LPT). If you see "ECP Printer Port
(LPT1)" listed under Ports, ECP mode is enabled.

Otherwise you need to set ECP mode in BIOS

Also ensure there are no other devices plugged in or daisy chained to
the port.

There may be residue from the original driver you installed. You
could try doing a system restore to before you originally installed
the printer, then install the latest printer driver.

Try the printer on another computer to make sure it hasn't developed a
fault.

You said that you bought a new cable - maybe that is faulty

I am out of ideas. Suggest you post problem to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax
