hp scanner/copier cannot connect to pc

Trying to scan a photo from hp office jet scanner/copier and e-mail to friend but says cannot connect to pc- problem can't be connects because I am able to print from pc
 
What Model HP Printer? I had an HP that the scanner went out but the printer
was fine.
