Sometimes you just HAVE to do some searching for answers in the OBVIOUS
places.. Like the manufacturer web page of the product in question, for
starters..

Go to www.hp.com and download and install the CORRECT driver package for
your scanner. Drivers designed for WindowsNT, 95, 98, 98se and ME will NOT
work in 2000 or XP.

I had a similar problem with my HP 6200C scanner. I
needed new software, but not new drivers. Software and/or
drivers (if needed) should be available from the HP
support web pages. Try starting here (this link is one
line, but may appears as several, depending on the window
