HP PSC 2175 driver causes restart/crash/bugcheck

Mikey

On my Windows XP PC, I recently replaced an Epson CX5200 with a HP PSC 2175
multifunction printer. Both of them attached via USB cable.

With the HP PSC 2175 printer, my PC now restarts itself at random times part
way through a print job.

Since I never had this problem with the Epson printer and the problem
started appearing after I installed the HP PSC 2175 printer driver, I
strongly suspect the HP printer driver is causing the PC to randomly
restart.

I would like others that have had or are having a smilar problem to post
replies to this message.

Please do not reply with "re-install the driver", "scan for viruses or
worms", defrag, empty the recycle bin, check the Event Viewer or other such
comments. That's been done ad nauseum.

Hi mikey,
I have a win 2000 pro desktop with the same problem and im using a HP2210 printer with the latest updated driver. I suspect this is the problem too. I had this printer on an XP Pro machine and it was reseting (reboot) the same way
I contacted HP and they have no answers. Let me know if you resolved this problem
Thanks Don.

Both of these are relatively long shots:
I vaguely recall seeing something in the hp tech forums about trying to use the regular USB port instead of the hp "DOT4" usb port. You'll have to uninstall the printer again. And it's possible that with a multifunction machine this
won't work at all.
