hp printer driver

I installed and used an hp inkjet printer and everything
was fine until uninstalled/removed the printer. Now,
everytime the computer boots it claims to have dedected
new hardware and tries to find a driver for the no longer
existing printer. I have searched the registry and deleted
every reference to HP, Hewlett Packard, etc but am unable
to stop the false detection. MS, as always, has a no
solution solution; contact the vendor and get a good
driver. However, I no longer have the printer and do not
care to get another just to get rid of it.

HELP!!

.
Just an idea, go to uninstall and delete the program or
go to device manager and find it there and disable it.
Dont know if this will work but worth a try. Good luck
