HP Pavilion HDX Remote Not Working

Sam

Hi everyone,

I have an HP Pavilion HDX laptop running Vista 64-bit.

I've been trying to get the HP Remote Control
(http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/pr...umpid=in_r329_personalization/browse2/SDP_PDP)
to operate Media Center with no success. HP Tech Support are of no help.

Here are the symptoms:

1) The remote does turn on the laptop and does bring up the Media Center if
I press the appropriate key when the laptop is OFF.
2) When the laptop is on, none of the keys on the remote work.

I checked all the obvious things about services, the event log, etc but I'm
unable to get this remote to work with Vista.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. The HP online store is misleading in that it allows you
to add this remote as an accessory to the laptop implying that it does work.

Hardware-wise, the remote manages to turn on the laptop, but then stops
working afterwards. There seems to be no way in Vista Media Center to
configure a remote anymore unless there are some registry hacks out there.

Insofar as I know (not being a huge Media Center user but a casual one)
there never was a way to configure a remote - it is either MC compatible or
it is not. I have an old Windows XP MCE remote that works fine with Vista's
Media Center but several add-on tuners and capture cards that came with
remotes aren't seen by either XP or Vista MC.

I own a 2007 hp and the remote came with mine and it works fine for MC and
quick play unless your remote is defunct witch could be the case i looked at
the picture that you provided and its the exact same that I have only
difference is mine came with the computer mine is a dv6308nr is you wanna
look at it I think that its the remote that is the problem they are the same
and mines working fine not sure if this was really helpful or not but hp
should either take it back or send a new one although like you said CS is a
joke
