HP Notebook Remote Control- XP issue?

I have a HP Pavilion dv4000 running XP Home. It came with a remote control
for watching DVD's etc.... I don't see a catagory called Inferred Devices
in the device manager. I'm stumped on how to get the remote to operate. Any
help????

You sure it is infrared? Perhaps the correct place to get help setting
it up would be the setup sheet, user guide, or HP tech support.
