HP Laserjet 5L paper feed problem after installing the free HP kits

Hi,

I have two HP Laserjet 5L printers that showed multi-sheet feeding
problem. On the first printer, after installing the free HP upgrade
kit, it worked for a short period, then it stopped feeding paper
completely. I thought it was coincident. Weeks later, I installed
the kit on the second printer, this time it stopped feeding paper
immediately. In both cases, the feeding pad seems to be glued
properly. I have installed correponding kit on the Laserjet 1100
printer and it worked fine, so I wonder if this is why HP does not
officially recommend this kit for the 5L printer (they only recommend
it for the 6L on its site).
Could somebody tell me an inexpensive way to repair the printers?

While getting something free is OK, you definatly get what you pay
for. I have been repairing printers for years and have found the real
OEM or even aftermarket replacement seperation pads and sub-pads as
well as the replacement pickup rollers more than adequate. My
customers have yet to complain. Visit the Laser Pros or other parts
suppliers site and order the proper replacements and you will be fine.

Thanks for the responses. Let me clarify my questions:
I understand other parties offer repair kit for the multi-sheet
feeding problem for the 5L, but do they still work AFTER I have
installed (proplerly or improperly) the HP kit?
For those who are familiar with the mechanism, what possibly went
wrong that could cause the installation of the HP kit to stop feeding
paper?
