Yes, HP Laserjet 5L separation pad problem

My HP Laserjet 5L is not separating the sheets of paper, and taking
every single one at the same time. I have the free separation pad thingy HP
was giving out a few years ago (I had ordered it "just in case" at the
time), however I've lost all trace of any installation instructions. As I
only have one, and obviously can't get another, could anybody describe how
to do this?

Or, if anybody has any other solutions, I'm listening - but it has to be
free, or nearly free!
