HP LaserJet 5L - Does not print properly

Loaded my machine with windowsXP, and since then
my laserjet 5L won't print properly. Instead I get
a lot of characters and letter on the first part of the
printing and the paper just gets ejected afterwards.
This would go on until several pages are printed.

Does this happen while printing any document or a specific document? Did you
clean install WindowsXP or did you upgrade from an earlier OS.

There are a few things you can try to fix the problem.
1. Go to printers folder (start->Printers&Faxes) and see which printer is
installed. It should say HP LaserJet 5L. Right click the icon, choose
"Printing Preferences" then click advanced. Change Print Optimizations to
Disabled. Click ok then apply then ok. Now close the application you were
printing from, re-open the applicatoin and try to print. See if this helps
you.
2. Change the driver: Try installing HP LaserJet 5P driver. Open the Printer
Folder, Add Printer and follow the steps. For the port, choose whichever
port your printer is attached to (most likely it will be LPT1). Choose the
HP LaserJet 5P Driver. Now try to print from the application choosing the
newly installed driver.

Let me know if this works. If not, I'll try to help you with some other
options.
Thanks
