HP laptop locks up

After installing XP critical updates my HP ze1250 laptop
stops responding after running for a little while. Can
occur even when no programs are running. Only to get out
is to manually shut down, no keys will respond.

Anybody know which critical update causes this problem?

It runs fine after installing SP1a.
