HP DeskJet 712 Problem

In XP, DeskJet 712 no longer prints from any MS
applications, but test page works. Anything else appears
blank or garbage. Tried removing and reinstalling printer
numerous times, but same results. Can't get driver from
HP since Windows XP driver supposed to be up to date.
Noticed several other postings related to this problem
with HP DeskJet models. Any ideas?

When you uninstalled, did you remember to delete the drivers from the Server
Properties?

yeah, compain to HP that they have deserted their
customers. If enough of us do that....maybe they'll come
up with the drivers that actually work on their printers.
we need to compain to MS as well. After all, their drivers
should work....
enough said. mine DOES work. just not impressively.
quality is poor. options are nonexistent.
have you tried stopping the print spooler and restarting
it? if you're not working at all it could be confused. you
can use computer management -- services -- to located
stop and restart your spooler

HP support sucks anyway.. I had a 6300C scanner that wouldn't work.. they
wanted cdn$180 to fix any problem.. I asked if that meant that if they found
two things wrong, they would hit me for cdn$360.. they seemed unsure about
that.. so I went out and purchased a Canon 1240U/lide30 for cdn$129.. it
works flawlessly..
