HP 895Cxi won't print

S

Sallyanne

I have Windows XP and Microsoft office 2000 on my
computer. Having lost my printer driver I installed a
driver via the internet for my HP 895Cxi. However, it
will now only print the first time I turn on the computer
and reports all other printer tasks as "failed". My
printer status shows as offline in the printer details
box and there does not appear to be an option to change
this to online. How can get my printer to work
properly. I have already gone through the troubleshooter
questions but have still been unable to get my printer
working.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First off - is the driver you installed an XP driver?

If you are trouble with the HP driver, use the inbox XP driver.

I recommend:
1. disconnect the printer device from the computer
2. reboot your computer and then make sure any there are no HP programs
running when you start-up (check Task Manager)
2. uninstall any software that applied to the HP printer
3. reboot
4. once you've logged in, connect the printer directly into your computer
(no hubs)

The inbox driver should install and you should be up and running.

good luck!

Hi Sally Anne --

The HP 895 Cxi is supported with a driver on the windows media, i.e. the
driver is 'built in.' Since it sounds like the print driver may be killing
the spooler, you may want to uninstall the print driver that you downloaded
and use the driver built-in to Windows XP.
