hp 3100 laserjet

Bought a new Dell inspiron with Windows Xp home edition

Can't get the printer to do anything.
PC recognizes its there, will not install from HP cd
and when I load in one of the presexisting drivers from
windows- then nothing happens.

anyone got any info

Just received my HP CD with the 3100 drivers for XP...it

seemed to work if you click "install" rather
than "setup". Weird that they wouldn't post it on the
web, because the CD was free, just had to pay for S&H. As
far as the drivers included on the WinXP CD.. I didn't
have anything for the LJ3100 and WIN98 drivers don't
work.. and there are none ofr W2K as far as I can figure
out. According to the HP CD it says that if you want to
use the 3100 as a printer, not fax etc, that the HPII
drivers should work. Well that didn't work for me, but
give that a try.
