HOWTO: Sharing a Network Connection?

P

Peter N. Konstant

Hello,

I am a novice at this. I would like to know how to share a network
connection. What I have tried so far does work. I recently added a second
network card to my XP PC and connected that card to my Windows CE device.
Since my PC first network card is already connected to the network and
internet, I would share that connection and thus the Windows CE device would
go through the second card to to the first card to get to the network.
Obviously, it did not work.

Instead of sharing the NIC card, do I pick bridge networks?

Does XP support two NIC cards?

Do I assign an IP for the NIC #2 since it is connected to my Window CE
device?

Do I assign an IP for the CE and have its gateway point to the IP of the
NIC#2 of the PC?

This becomes rather confusing!

Many Thanks to the Experts!
Peter

Two nic cards is one of the hardest ways to set it up. Get yourself a
router, plug in both computers(one nic in each), run network wizard, your
done. Computers networked and internet connection shared.

True, but a router doing nat will also act as a firewall. Either way.

Never mind the fact that a router isn't exactly expensive either.
