Dear all,

how can I disable in general on Windows XP the popping up of file
explorer when I plugin in a USB drive?

Searching the web, I found the same question raised several times
but I have not found any solution/answer to this.

Thanks for any help!

Kind regards,
Lukas

I've made a little tool for this:

Just uncheck 'Removable' to deactivate AutoRun for all
USB-sticks.

Does this little tool work to turn it back on again?
For some reason mine doesn't ask anymore. (I've tried many remedies)

If one of the setting it makes is the reason that it does
not work then it can turn it on again. Just try it.
For CD/DVD drive usually the 'auto insert notification'
has been deactivated.

If not, then tools as Microsoft AutoFix can help.
