How turn off Reading Pane in all folders universally instead of ea

I upgraded from Office 2000 to 2007 and had to do a lot of re-learning in
Outlook. But there must be a way to turn off the reading pane as a universal
action rather than having to do it in every mail folder individually. I have
about 30 folders at least. Isn't there?

Thank you Diane--I had to fumble around a little to adapt this method to
Outlook 2007, but finally figured out that when I got to the "Define Views"
page, it has a table with a lot of rows, and by selecting the "Messages" row,
(and making any changes to the fields, if desired) and then Applying/Closing
that window, I no longer had the Reading Pane coming up when opening a folder.

Great stuff.

Thanks much
