To do a clean install of XP load the XP disk into the PC and reboot, you
should get a message saying "press any key to boot from CD" at this time hit
a key. If you don't get this message then you have to go into your BIOS and
set it to boot from CD first, usually you hit delete or F2 during bootup to
enter BIOS setup.

You will then load the default XP reinstall screens and they are pretty self
explanatory but when you get to the part where it asks where to install XP
you will see your current partition listed, select this and follow the
directions to delete the partition and creat a new install.

Good luck

After backing up any data you wish to transfer to the new OS
installation, simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part
of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Then the backed up data can be restored and applications re-installed.
