How To Verify Integrity of file shell.dll

S

Scott in L.A.

I just removed a virus called"Trojan Horse Downloader.Agent.AQN" from my
computer.

MyAVG Free now reports that the file "Windows\System32\Shell.dll" is
"changed"
instead of "ok" like the rest of the system files.
How do I verify the integrity of this file?

Can I use the XP cd to fix it without doing a reinstall? (I have a Dell
desktop XP home)

Thanks

Scott

AVG & user32.dll, shell32.dll and ntoskrnl.exe

Ignore it. user32.dll, shell32.dll and ntoskrnl.exe.

Windows Critical Updates installs new versions of these files.

If it bothers you, run the System File Checker (sfc.exe).

Start | Run | Type or paste: sfc /scannow | Click OK

scannow sfc (sfc.exe)
