How to Use System Restore?

D

Dick Harrison

I have System Restore on, but I do not know how to initiate where. Where do
I "click" to start a restore process or where do I read to learn about the
function?

I have been using Norton GoBack. How does the XP System Restore function
compare to GoBack?

Thanks, Dick

Now that you know how to use restore, I will throw this out. Both Restore
and Goback are not all that reliable. A more reliable method is to backup
your system using some type of imaging program such Ghost, Acronis or Bootit
NG. I personally like Ghost 2003 as Ghost V9 sucks big time. You can
backup to CDs or DVDs or if the hard drive is partitioned, you can backup to
a data partition that does not need to be imaged.

Just threw that out for you to think about.
Good luck

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

Take Restore to former time, choose a date in bold and select a point to
go to.

It is complementary to GoBack, which saves user data rather than just
system matters. I am given to understand that GoBack has taken to
inhibiting System Restore. Personally I would not use GoBack (or any
Symantec product these days)
