How to use embedded fonts in a printer?

I'm trying to improve our print process from Crystal Reports to our
operations printers. We have several 20,000+ page reports which print
bi-monthly. I have just purchased 2 HP 4300 printers which have both PS and
PCL support along with several embedded PCL and PS fonts. I send the print
data from the Win2K Crystal Reports server to the printers via Standard
TCPIP Port Monitor Local Ports. Right now when using the 4300 PS driver in
Crystal Reports these reports can create a spool file over 2.5GB in size.
Is there a way to utilize the embedded fonts to maybe reduce the spool file
size? I honestly have no idea how to use an embedded font, and this may not
at all be possible. Along these same lines do you have any suggestions for
improving a setup like this? Is PS really the way to go? What things need
to be taken into account when deciding wether or not to use PCL or
PostScript. Thanks Very Much!

This is just wild-assed guess, but it just seems to me that you can install
a plain-old vanilla post-script printer driver. The 4300 (as best as I can
determine from reading the User's Manual) is set to use Courier PICA as a
default.

Not knowing anything about Crystal Reports, is there a setting that says to
print ASCII (plain text)?
