How to transfer address book from one PC to another?

Hell again,

Is there a 'best' way to transfer an address book from a W2K PC running
Outlook 2000 to another PC running Outlook 2003 under WinXP?

I was going to copy the .pst file across but decided it would be better to
start afresh with a 'virgin' mailbox on the new machine.

Also if I wanted to send multiple contacts from Outlook 2003 to other PC's
running the same program what would be the best way to achieve this?

For example we have 10 Technicians and if there are any changes to the
address book we have to depend upon each Tech inputting the details
correctly.

It would be great if we could just send details of the new contact and have
it added to their address books with minimum user intervention.

I did try to send a contact from my own address book some time ago but it
could not be read by the other computers...

Hi Pheasant Plucker,

the Addressbook is only a "Filter" of your contact folder.

You can not move the Addressbook, you must move your complete contact
folder.

Make a copy of your PST file, move this PST file to the other computer, open
the "old" PST file in your new Outlook and copy the contact from the "old"
PST to the new PST file.

How to move your PST:

a.) Open an Email, select the contact folder. Now you can move with your
mouse single contacts into the email as "attachments".

b.) Another way is to send contacts by "Vcard":

For example we have 10 Technicians and if there are any changes to the

You can only send the contat, not any part of the "Addressbook".

Are you using Exchange Server or local Outlooks (PST files)?

The best way is to share the contacts with all users so everybody write all
information in one "Public Contact Folder".

You will go crazy if you try to share information with 10 users and
everybody send emails with attached contact information by email (Vcard).

Thanks for the detailed reply Oliver, lots to take in...thanks.

I really did not want to move my .pst preferring instead to start from
scratch in the new install as I didn't want to move any problems over...

Unfortunately I have hundreds of contact details in my address book and did
not want to add them one-at-a-time but that is interesting that if I did
move it, open it up in OL2003 I can copy just the contacts over?

I'll give it a try.

I am using local .pst files BTW, not Exchange Server.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,
