How to switch game controller ID # ?

Under the Game Controller console,under the advanced tab,there use to be a way to reassign controller ID's.I can't find this option with XP home.How do you change ID's in XP?

One way:
Revove all gaming controllers. Then disconnect each and then
reboot. After the reboot, reconnect each one, in the order you want them.
