how to stop opening word with powerpoint

I go to open a WORD doc and it always defaults and opens in a Powerpoint
mode ?

I wish to revert back to opening a WORD doc with WORD !

I use WIN XP prof SP2 , WOrd 2003 and Powerpoint 2003

If that doesn't fix it, select a document in Windows Explorer, right click
and select open with > choose program (bottom of the list) > pick Word and
check the box 'always open with this application'.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on a Word document, and choose Open With -
Choose [Default] Program.

If that doesn't work, you can repair Word, which should restore the built-in
original association and "ownership" of .doc files. Help - Detect and
Repair.

Yet another method, in Windows Explorer, is Tools - Folder Options - File
types, locate .doc, and edit the Open behavior.
