How to sort on flag status color in Outlook?

When I sort my messages first on Flag Status, and then on Received date, the
messages are sorted by flag status color, but not by date. My assumption is
that the flag status contains more than just the color, and that this hidden
info contributes to the sort order calculation. This is not desired
ofcourse. I know the field Flag Status Color exists, but I can't select it
for sorting purposes.

In short, how can I sort on flag status color only, so that my secondary
sort criterium is correctly taken into account?

Thanks

What view are you using? How are you sorting them?

When I use the Arranged By > Flag selection in the Messages view, they are
sorted by color (red first) and date within the color.

NB. I am using MS Office Outlook 2003 11.6359.6360 SP1.

The problem occurs both in the Inbox and the For Follow-Up folders.

I can sort on Flag Color there, no problem. The secondary sort criterium on
Received date is handled correctly. If I sort on *Flag Status* first though,
then on secondary sorting Received date is not working. Apparently when
sorting by Flag Status other information is taken into account than just the
color

But what I actually want to do is *group by* Flag Color and *sort by*
Received date, and I can't do that because Flag Color is not among the
criteria to group by. Only Flag Status is, but that messes up the secondary
sort.

Any idea what's happening?

Thanks for your assistance,
Carl

I'm also having this exact problem and have missed several important emails
that needed responses.....am anxiously awaiting a solution.
