In my system, I installed Windows 2000 in C Drive and Windows Xp in F Drive.

Two days before, due to some problem in Windows 2000, i have to reinstall
Windows 2000(formated and Installed again) in the same drive. Its
successfully done.

When i am getting into it, it show 2 Options for booting
1. Windows 2000 Server
2. Windows Xp Professional.

When i select Windows 2000 Server, its working fine.
When i select Windows Xp Professional, it is not booting. It shows that some
file missing in Windows\System32\....

How can i solve the problem with reinstalling the Windows Xp. Urgent.

Thanks

With Regards

Hi,

You can try to repair your Windows XP installation. Just boot your computer
from the Windows XP CD and follow this article:

How to perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341

You can also try troubleshooting this problem with the recovery console, but
you have to post a more detailed error description. The repair installation
is always faster and easier.

It's probably not necessary to do a Repair Install of XP. The problem is
that the Win2k bootloader has overwritten the XP bootloader. To fix the
XP bootloader:

Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead
of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. This will get you into the
Recovery Console. Assume any password requested is blank, and TAB
over.

Do:
Attrib -H -R -S C:\boot.ini [enter]
DEL C:\boot.ini [enter]
to delete the bad one
BootCfg /Rebuild [enter]

to search for Windows installations and make a boot.ini.

Answered elsewhere. Crosspost when necessary but please do not multipost!

This is a very simple problem to resolve and it does not require a
reinstall to fix. When you reinstalled Windows 2000 it replaced the
Windows XP version of the files NTDEYECT.COM and ntldr with its
version. Simply replace these files with the ones from your Windows XP
cd or with the ones in the Windows XP i386 folder. These are hidden
files at C:\.
