Hi

How to setup fax services in windows xp ?
Thank you.

First, you need an internal or external data/fax modem connected to a
phone line.

Then you need to go to Add/Remove and click on the button to the left
for Add/Remove Windows Components and under Communication you will find
Fax. Have your XP CD handy because you will be asked to insert it in the
CD/DVD ROM/RAM. Tick it and OK (install) your way out.

Next, you need to go to Start/All
Programs/Accessories/Communications/Fax/Fax Console. Once the Console is
open, go to Tools/Configure Fax and configure it and make sure the modem
is set to send and receive. Then send a test fax from the computer and
to the computer to make sure it's working all right.

It only works on dial up ?

Fax is a telephone technology. It sends images over a phone line. So
you have to have a POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) line to send a
fax. For your computer to send or receive faxes, it needs to have a
fax modem connected to a POTS line.
